Executive Coaching Is The Way To The Top

By Tom Doerr

Many people have never heard of executive coaching and fewer still understand why it is important. When we read about business titans like Andrew Carnegie, Bill Gates and Sam Walton, we usually think of self-made men. They made it big on their own with no help.

Seeing business leaders as having reached the top of their game with no outside help is like believing that children are born fully functional and educated at age 18. It never happens that way. All business leaders begin as business newborns, so to speak, and they make mistakes along the way. The best and smartest of these will actively seek out help and coaching and learn from it.

Executive coaching involves a professional working with an executive or leader to help him or her reach a goal or set of goals in their professional development. All leaders have pluses and minuses, and if they are smart leaders they will seek out help to improve themselves where they are weakest. It makes perfect sense.

General George S. Patton was a great American general. We remember him because he was a very successful military leader. Patton was not born a General. He entered the military through West Point and worked his way up through the ranks. He was taught and mentored along the way. An executive coach can take the innate talent in you and help you on the route to the top.

Leaders need to be able to motivate their workers. Not all workers are the same, and not all situations are either. An Executive Coach can assist business men and women to reach the goal or goals they set for themselves. They can help with strategic thinking, team building, organizational effectiveness, and interpersonal communications, to name but a very few topics.

The modern business world is fraught with competition. Businesses are thriving, just getting by, or dying based on the decisions made by their leaders. Business Coaching may make the difference between going to the top, or oblivion. Your sure first positive step is to hire an Executive Coach.
